Hello,

I have traced my paternal great-grandparents to a couple of towns near Uelzen, Germany. The two towns are Munster (no umlaut over the u) and Melzingen. I have some birth dates and I am hoping that someone either has information or can tell me where to write in Germany so I can obtain the missing birth records and marriage records. The religion is Lutheran.

My family names are listed below. They left Germany around 1870 and settled in Pierce, Nebraska, USA. Thank you for your time and any information you can provide.

Christoff Marks (Born on 5 April 1826) married Maria Bockelmann.
Their children are:

Catherine Wilhelmine Dorothea Marks - Born on 29 April 1860 in Melzingen Maria Dorothea Elisabeth Marks - Born on 12 October 1863 in Melzingen

Hermann Marks

Christoph Bockelmann married Maria Kruse.
I believe their children to be:
William Bockelmann - Born in Munster
Johann Heinrich Bockelmann - Born in Munster
Maria Bockelmann

My great-grandparents also came from this same area of Germany. I know a
researcher who works in the archive in Uelzen but I cannot find the address
of the archive at the moment. The internet address was
info@landkreis-uelzen.de
I don't know if it still works.

PS: We also had Bokelmans here in Wisconsin but from a different village.
