My great grandmother, Maria Anna Spuhler, was recorded on the US 1850 census
as living with my great great grandmother, Margarita Schroeder Klausen in
Osage County, Missouri, USA. She was recorded as being nine years old. LDS
records indicate she was born in Oberndorf to Henrici Spuhler and Wilhemina
Brunn and baptized in Rockenhausen. I can find no immigration records and
have no idea how or under what circumstances she was living with my
gggrandmother, Klausen, without any direct family. She married my great
grandfather, Hermann Crede, in 1859. Can anyone from the Oberndorf or
Rockenhausen area offer any possible insight on the Spuhler family from that
area? Thank you. Bill Crede
Dear Mr. Crede,
The following records I have found in the (Catholic ?) Churchbook of Oberndorf.
Maria Anna Spuhler born 12.03.1841 bapt.14.
Barbara born 09.05.1850 bapt.11.
Wilhelmina born 24.02.1853 bapt.27.
Parents: Heinrich Spuhler and Wilhelmina Brunn
In the Lutheran Churchbook of Alsenz (near Oberndorf) I have found the following record:
Heinrich Spuhler married 26.04.1835 Wilhelmina Brunn, burn 18.10.1816 Oberndorf, daughter from Adrian Brunn and Catherina Jung.
In Alsenz are a lot of Spuhler records, but no birth records from children of Heinrich Spuhler and Wilhelmina Jung.
Also I can not find the birthdate from Heinrich Spuhler in Alsenz or Oberndorf.
With friendly regards
Uwe Roeder, Birkenheide/Palatinate, Germany
