Marhenke

Well Tanya things are warming up a bit. I have a separate database in my
genealogy program I call Marhenke Misc. This database has all of the
Marhenke info that I have collected over the years that I can not yet
connect to my Marhenke line. Many of these Marhenke's came from the Harz
Mountain region near Berka. This region is South of the
Marienhagen-Deinsen area where my Marhenkes lived but it is connected by
the Weser river. In this Berka region several Bode's lived and some
married Marhenke's. In fact I have corresponded with a Bode from there
and have his information some where if your interested. I do not know
how many miles from Frestorf or Nendorf this is but several. Of course
boats ran up and down this river. ----Bob

Hi Bob and Donn,

How interesting! I am happy I wrote this email and was excited to see Meyer
and interrelated relatives yesterday in all of these emails that came from
the Hannover/ Weser River area and came to Fort Wayne, Indiana!!

What type of work did Meyer and Marhenke do, Bob and Donn in Ft Wayne when
they came to the area?

I am having a difficult time determining when Auguste, my grt grandmother,
emigrated to US. Censuses here is US have varying dates.

We have notes from my dad's research that says:

1) Auguste came over in circa 1888 to meet up with a her oldest brother,
Wilhelm in Brooklyn, NY. I don't know what happened to Wilhelm in the US
and where he lived after Brooklyn, NY. Auguste went to live in Fort Wayne,
Indiana and married Deitrich Nahrwold of Holbrucks (sp?), Germany

2) Auguste had a twin, but the nice lady in this group, Susanne, could not
find the baptism record of Auguste's twin at the Frestorf church. My
grandmother and aunts say she had a twin.

3) One aunt went to Germany and had written down the church record
information, but some of it was not making sense on the dates of Karl
Meyer's forefathers. Much of that is straightened out now with records.

4) However, do not have the information on Auguste's twin.

a) either August a brother or Amelia, a sister would be her twin is what my
dad's notes have.
b) Amelia died young.
c) August, I have no birth date for him, but he remained in Germany and
lived in Bremen.

5) Another, Karl, remained and lived in Westfallen (sp?).

More to research above. Have been tied up with my dad's paternal German
side working with a German Kolitsch cousin since November 2013. My Kolitsch
grt grandparents and forefathers lived in Hengstererben, Germany and
emigrated in 1882 to Appleton, Wisconsin. My grandfather, Kolitsch married
Mary Nahrwold just north of Fort Wayne, IN. Mary is daughter of Deitrich
Nahrwold and Auguste Meyer of Frestorf NW of Hannover.

Thank you,

Tanya
