Making umlauts with a computer

How do you make umlauts? I have Yahoo email and Word. I
want to make
umlauts in both. Tom

Tom:

Good question.

I can make umlauts in WORD by using the Insert method.

Click: Insert, then Symbol, then select your symbol,
actually the letter you want with the umlaut.

You can write your e-mail in WORD and copy it to your
e-mail text.

This is cumbersome and there surely a better way using
a hot key. But I don't know what it is. I think the
various versions of Windows are not all the same. I
sure hope I am wrong.

In order to use WORD for e-mail, the WORD Assistant
tells me that I am supposed to click NEW, MORE WORD
TEMPLATES, GENERAL, E-MAIL MESSAGE, but that is where
it ends for me, I can't get any further.

Right now I am keeping one window open on WORD and
another window open on each of my e-mail services, and
copy and paste.

Oh! I forgot! WORD HAS SHORT CUT KEYS. It is at the
bottom of the symbol chart.
