Mail order brides; was testing

Hello Jo Meyer,

Although my family has no proof of this, we have good circumstantial evidence that my ggrandmother was a mail-order bride. My ggrandfather's first wife died 25 May 1875 at their home in Liberty Twp., Porter Co., IN, USA. My ggrandfather was a farmer at that location.

He then remarried 13 Oct 1875 (just 5 months later) in Elmhurst, DuPage Co., IL, USA to a Mary KRIETER from Nienburg, Niedersachsen. He had previously no known connection to Elmhurst or to Nienburg. We also have not found any relatives of his 2nd wife in the USA, and so believe she came alone. I can only guess that Elmhurst may have been the location of a "bride agency" of some sort. The new couple returned to Liberty Twp., Porter Co., IN, USA.
