Mail list in german

I apologise for my ignorance and sorry if I offend some on this list but can I ask if there is anyway I can make the list default to English when being sent to me? I realise it is a German list but wonder is there something I have missed in subscribing.

At the moment I'm just search for the English I can read and searching for names I am researching, SCHUCK, WETZEL, FRIES, OBERLE, KRAUS and AMRAIN, or the villages of Roßbach near Aschaffenburg and Ebersbach, to see if someone has posted something that could be meant for me.

Hi Cherylanne:

To my knowledge there is no way that you can default to an English
translation of messages posted on the list. You can, however, utilize the
services of machine translation available at www.babelfish.com These
machine translations are not of the best quality but they do allow you to
capture the gist of the message.

By the way, this list is not a "German only" list. Both English and German
are acceptable languages to use when posting messages to this list. When I
first joined the list a couple of years ago, English was the predominant
language. Over the past year, we have been fortunate in having many
German-speaking users reserching their Franconian ancestors and making use
of this list.

Hello Cherylanne,

You are doing what most of us are doing. I get too many e-mails to
translate all of them. I too peruse the German Language posts and if I
see a surname that may be a match, I let my word processor take care of
the rest. If you use MS Word, click on tools, then language, then
translate, either certain text or the entire document, and then the box
that says German to English. Wait a minute or two and it translates for
you. When I post to Germany, I write it in English, go through the
procedure again, click English to German, and copy and paste it onto my
e-mail, sending both English and German translations on the same post.

I hope this helps.

good evening Cherylanne,

"translated" words.
