Mackes in Minnesota

In the 1895 Minnesota state census there is a family of Mackes, the parents
of which were born in Germany. It doesn't say where. They lived in Ohio for a
while. That could very easily have been Cincinnati. Their first three
children were born in Ohio: Josephine age 15 in 1895, Frances, 12, and Henry, 9.
After that their children were born in Minnesota: Rosa, 6, and Elizabeth, 1.
The residence was Sauk Centre, Stearns County. Elizabeth's death record says:
Lizzie, born in Minnesota 5 Aug 1893, d.Grove Township 30 Jan 1909; parents
born in Germany. Father's name: Ben Macke, mother's name: Katy Diekhaus. Cause
of death pneumonia
I don't have the records from Germany for these two.

Hello, There was a family of Mack's that lived outside of Verndale, MN. I
do not know what the first name of the family dad was, but the son Pat Mack
would have graduated in 1953 or 1952. Hope that helps.

Hi Nancy,

are you related to Lorraine Ettel (Pundsack), Stearns County, MN?

Greetings
Claudia Hesselbach

Nancy,

Thank you very much for the information. I already recognize some of
the names but I am almost certain that they are not in my direct
line. There may be some connection in the distant past, however, and
the immigrants almost certainly were acquainted with each other in
Cincinnati. Most lived in the same immediate neighborhood, a small
corner of the Over-the-Rhine district. Are you interested in my
Ahlers data?
