Ruth E. OEMCKE
Obituary | Condolences
OEMCKE, Ruth E.
On Tuesday, November 27, 2012, Ruth Oemcke took flight from her earthly home
in West Suffield to her eternal heavenly home where her predeceased husband
Ludwig Phillip Oemcke of 43 years; her son Franklin Roy Oemcke; and all her
predeceased family and friends, were waiting with outstretched arms to
welcome her. Her "journey" was long, she enjoyed the comfort and loving,
nurturing care of her home she shared for the last ten years with her
daughter Ruth Marie DeBisschop and great grandson, Clayton Broc Gendron
But,
the angels said, "Come Ruth, it is time to go now." Her flight was a
beautiful lifting of spirit on the wings of her ever watchful angels into
the open arms of her ever trusted Heavenly Father. She was a devoted wife,
loving mother, nurturing grandmother, loyal friend, and always had an
outstretched arm to the needy. It was a blessing to have such peace and
grace through all her years. Born in Colyer, PA on September 15, 1917,
daughter of the late Adam Franklin and Mary Jane (Henninger) Smith, she was
raised in Pennsylvania, and had lived in Middlebury and Beacon Falls for the
greater part of her life. Ruth was a founding member of the Whitney Avenue
Church of Christ in Hamden. She leaves a son, Kenneth Phillip Oemcke and his
wife Deborah of Naugatuck and Farmington, ME; two daughters, Mary Jane
Lambrides and her husband The Rev. Dr. Daniel H. Lambrides of St. Paul, MN,
and Ruth DeBisschop of West Suffield; a daughter-in-law, Barbara Oemcke of
Collinsville; a sister, Nellie Beatty and her husband Kenneth of Naugatuck;
12 grandchildren; 24 great grandchildren; and one great-great grandson.
Besides her husband and her son, she was predeceased by three brothers; and
three sisters.
Her family will receive friends on Sunday, December 9, 12 Noon- 1 p.m.,
followed by a memorial service at 1 p.m., at the Nicholson & Carmon Funeral
Home, 443 East St. North, Suffield. Burial will be private and at the
convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be
made to the Whitney Avenue Church of Christ Memorial Handicap Ramp Fund,
2141 Whitney Ave., North Haven, CT 06473. For online condolences please
