Low German recipes?

It's difficult for me to know which family recipes originated from our
Oldenburg relatives or from our Rhineland relatives. I believe our way of
making sauerkraut is from the north.

In 4 quart kettle, cook enough potatoes to cover bottom of kettle, with
water just to cover, until fork pierces them easily, about 15 minutes. Mash
coarsely with potato masher. You want small chunks of potatoes to remain.
Add sauerkraut, including juice. I use 1 large (29 oz) can and 1 small can
(15 oz). Fill both cans with water and add to kettle. Add ring of smoked
pork sausage. Simmer covered for several hours over low heat, stirring
occasionally. Serve with bread and dark Karo syrup to sop up the juices. I like it
better the 2nd day.

You've given me an idea for dinner this week.

Hi friends,

I've been thinking of starting a tradition once a year to honor my
family's Oldenburger-Munsterland heritage, and I'd really like to
include some traditional dishes from the area. Can anyone suggest a
recipe or two, or perhaps point me in the right direction where I
might find some online?

Thanks,

My mother did this using pork spare ribs.
