Similar to the Pennsylvania Deutsch Scrapple which uses cornmeal rather
than oatmeal... and no bay leaf. May have origin in the Low German Panhas
which is made with buckwheat. Guten Appetit!
I have been fascinated with this exchange! My mother used to make Panhas, although I had no idea how it was spelled until I read this message. We loved it. Typically we sliced it and fried it as a breakfast meat. I would love to see a recipe.

I have always seen it spelled Ponhoss.
At least that is the Amish spelling.
