Low German recipes? - Goetta Video

Hello Werner,

Around the Cincinnati area there is quite a variation in the spices
   used in goetta!

Actually thee is much variation in the chili recipes there also....

Have a nice day! Marilyn Ruhe Wethington

Similar to the Pennsylvania Deutsch Scrapple which uses cornmeal rather
than oatmeal... and no bay leaf. May have origin in the Low German Panhas
which is made with buckwheat. Guten Appetit!

I have been fascinated with this exchange! My mother used to make Panhas, although I had no idea how it was spelled until I read this message. We loved it. Typically we sliced it and fried it as a breakfast meat. I would love to see a recipe.

Hi,
My mother used to make Panhas,

I have always seen it spelled Ponhoss.
At least that is the Amish spelling.

JWR

Yes, my grandma made ponhoss all the time and my dad made it in the early years
