Hello List -
I am looking for family information on the surname Frickey (Fricke).
The information I have is:
Father - Henry (Heinrich) Frickey (Fricke) born about 1815 in or around Hannover
Mother - Sophia the maiden name is unknown
The marriage date is unknown.
They emigrated to the United States between 1853-1854.
Before emigrating they had two children:
Henry Frickey born about 1849
Charles Carl Frickey born 2 September 1852
They emigrated to Illinois in the United States and had at least six more children.
If anyone has any information on the Frickey's please let me know.

Hello Steve,
Your search is not easy! There are two pages in LDS searches that may
be your family. One lists Heinrich Fricke as born 16 Jan 1815 and died 5
Sep 1884. His wife is listed as Sophie Fchiere(??), born in Germany16 Dec.
1821 and death 27 June 1885. Children listed as Henry( born 1849 in
Hannover) Godfrey, Lena, Christina, Peter, Louis and Mary born in La
Rose,Marshall, IL
The other page is the 1880 census where Henry Frickey and Sophie live
in Bennigton, Marshall, IL Some children are listed although some could
have moved out of the house by 1880. Godfee, Petor, Luis and Mary.
Do you think both would be that family?
That Fchiere name is quite strange and is probably someone's mistaken
read on some record. Have you checked any church records in Illinois for the
births where the mother's maiden name may be listed? Since it is obviously
an unusual name, if the correct spelling were known, you may find her name
somewhere more easily than the Fricke name.

Hi Steve:
Looks like they settled in Richland in Marshall Co., Ill. Page #19 of the
1870 census shows him listed as Henry 55, a farmer who values his farm at
$7,000 and his personal property at $1,500.
His wife is Sophia 49. The Hannover born children you mention are listed as
Henry 21 and Charles 19, they both work on the farm. The Illinois born
children are:
Godfried 16
Peter 9
Louis 4
Haven't seen this before but sign of the times - After Louis are listed the
girls:
Lena 14
Christina 11
Mary 1
Henry is the only 'German' on the page, so a rapid assimilation would be
assumed.
In 1880, Charles looks to be in Greenfield, Gormly [?] Co., Illinois. He is
a farmer, 28 & married to Esther J. 22.
She was born in Indiana - parents Ohio. They have 2 dau's Carrie 4 and Eva,
1.

The Edwardsville Intelligencer - Sept 16, 1891
"C. Ficke, a wealthy farmer has donated the magnificent sum of $1,000
towards the erection of the school about to be built by Rev. P. Kaenders."
Found a Peter Frickey in 1910 - age 48, and est. birth year 1861 which would
fit, living in Groveland Twp., LaSalle, Illinois. Find at Series T624, Roll
300, Part 1, Page 251A
