LONGINUS Clemens Ahhlers

Well, then that makes sense.....

In Thode's "German-English Genealogical Dictionary," Longinus means
   March 15.

I had heard that sometimes the feast days were listed instead of the
   dates.

So, see if that works if the listing is chronological.

Does anyone know if there would be some other reason to list a saint's
   name in a birth record?

Have a nice day! Marilyn Ruhe Wethington

Quite often the birth or baptism of a baby was celebrated by giving
the baby the name of the saint of that day. Every day is a saint's day
of somebody. In RC areas Namenstag was and is celebrated as a more
important day then a bithday. This name's day is the day of the saint
whoise name the child carries. Babies were not supposed to be given
names which did not have a corresponding saint. Not sure if this is
all very confusing but believe me, bithdays were played down, while
Namenstag was played up.
