Hi List .
Recently ,by courtesy of a living Ohio Ahlers descendant , I was sent the descendants names of 19th century US bound migrants from Oythe . To my great surprise I found a Longinus Clement Ahlers born in Cincinnati in 1894 . The current Hogenboegen Ahlers also show a Longinus Clemens born about then for the very first time in the lineage . The Hogenboegen Ahlers and Oythe/Langdfoerden Ahlers appear to be a minimum of 300 years apart from a possible common ancestor .
Can anyone enlighten me about the sudden appearence of such a quaint name "Longinus" ,which seemed to have come and then vanish never to be repeated by any proud parents .?
Was there someone alive who was famous or noteworthy in Oldenburg by that name?
