I have not posted to the list for some time but wanted to share a success story. Through the help of Werner Honkamp I was put in contact with Falk Liebezeit. I enlisted Falk�s services and now have the birthplace, birth dates and other data on my g g grandfather, his brother and sisters, parents and other ancestors back to 1770. Barbara in St. Louis provided part of the information I supplied to Falk (after reading one of my queries), and I also followed some of the suggestions of Amy from this list.
It is really inspiring to have people care enough to share.
Although I do not post to the list often, I continue to read the digest and if I can be of help to others, I will return the favor shown to me.
Teresa... I have had a similar situation and tomorrow Falk is going to
Osnabr�ck to look for me. Werner , G�ther and many others have been very
helpful. I will keep my fingers crossed for Falk's success tomorrow.

(the surname may be: Vahlbruck, Fahlbruch, Wahlbruch, etc.)
(Arno - may be: Arnold, Arnd, etc.)
In 1890 Arno V. was selling cigars in New York.
His adress seemed to be: -> 320 East 104th Street, New Yoork.
I don�t know:
- where he was born realy - "HANNOVER" in that time, means about 6000
parishes?
- when did Arno arrive in NY, which ship?, which depature -Hamburg,
Bremen, -?
- he was married, but we don�t know his wife?
- do you find Arno in 1880 US Census?
- do you find any other VAHLBRUCH, WAHLBRUCH, ...brauck, ...brok, etc.?

I looked for your name "VAHLBRUCH" this morning on the CD's and did not
find him. I will try again later today and use more variations. I have not
used the Ellis Island site tosearch for my own relatives because they came
to America in 1864. If Arno was in New York city in 1890 you may want to
try the Ellis Island internet site. Have you tried the site?...the URL is

yes I know, these 2 VAHLBRUCHs where uncle and brothers son from Hamburg
but they didn�t immigrate to USA but only visit. One came from Venezuela
the other from Port-au-Prince. Both didn�t stay in USA.
I paticualy look for ARNO.
I even saw a picture of him but I can�t find where he came from.

I took Steve's advice and looked up the name Vollbrecht. First I searched
just New York City. Then I searched the entire USA using Vollbrecht, male,
German birth and 1859 +/- 5years as my parameters. Here are the results -
This is what I found in New York City in 1880, 2 families but no Arno.
Notice how they give Henry's birthplace as Waldeck, wherever that is?
