Does anyone have any links I could use to look up information? I still haven't made it down to the LDS center yet, but until then, I'd like to know what sites online you all have had success in finding information. Thanks!

Hi,
I don't know exactly what you are looking for, but if it's in Hannover, I can't give you any suggestions for on-line information, other that the indexes and extractions that might be available on the LDS site at www.familysearch.org
But be aware that, while they have thousands of names and records on line, they have gazillions more that are available only in the microfilms.
If you are looking for US records, then first try usgenweb.org for state and county sites that are part of the USGenWeb project. All their sites are done by volunteers and everything is free. Each county is very unique - some have a lot of info available, and some have very little. It depends on what is available to the volunteer host, and how much time and effort that host puts in on it.
Depending on the state that you want, there may be birth, death or marriage records posted. Illinois, Texas, California, and Minnesota are states I've found that have post data.
Hope that helps.
Mona
