I am trying to connect with the family of my ancestor Julius Ludwig Heinrich
Lillie, b. Hannover Germany, March 30, 1829. He emigrated to the United
States sometime before his marriage in Illinois in 1857 and died in Tekemah
Nebraska in 1886.
A family member has some correspondence from Hanover just after the turn of
the century that indicates the writer is a Protestant minister.

Hallo Carol,
you should look for "Lilje" not Lillie! It might be a misspelling.
If the writer is indicated as a Protestant minister, comming from
Hannover, I think it could be the family of a very famous Bishop in
Hannover after world war II - Hanns Lilje.
Hanns LILJE, *20.08.1899 in Hannover, 06.01.1977 in (?)
(Hanns is with two "n"!)
His father: Theodor LILJE, Diakon in Hannover
His mother: Maria Gottschalk
Look at: http://www.teleauskunft.de
Name: Lilje
Ort: Hannover
you will find 12 Lilje, some of these "Lilje" Baerbel, Carsten,
Christoph, Detlef, Ralf might be a son of the Bishop.
You also find "Hanns-Lilje-Stiftung" which means:
"Hanns-Lilje-fondation".
Good luck!
