What is the meaning of L.A. - "letztes Aufgebot" in the context of
genealogical marriage records?

I suppose this would be the last reading of the Banns of Marriage in church.
The word banns originates from 'ban' meaning to summon, to proclaim.

It was the custom to publicize the intended marriage of a couple on three
successive Sundays during the church service to give anybody with reason to 'forbid
the banns' meaning to object to the proposed marriage ( perhaps in cases of
bigamy)

In German the banns are 'das Aufgebot', and the last reading would be 'das letzte'.

Aufgebot means banns. They were
read 3 times, letztes Aufgebot means they were read for the third time.
