"Letters of a German American Farmer"

"Letters of a German American Farmer"
Juernjakob Swehn Travels to America

The above is the title of the book I mentioned before telling the story of a
German Tageloehner from a poor area of Mecklenburg / Germany who
emigrated in 1868 to Iowa and had his own farm there.
He kept in touch with his old teacher in Germany, and his letters have one or
two generations later been brought out as a book by the son of said teacher.

I am happy to report that the book has been translated by Richard Lorenz
August Trost a minister in the USA. It has been published by
University of Iowa Press and is available at US Dollar 19,95.
But you can also find it cheaper with Amazon and other on-line book shops.

There are many, many websites availabe where you can read that it comes
highly recommended 'every American child should read this ....' and so on.

Or just type in the title or the name of the translator both in invented commas
into Google or any good search machine and you will have a heyday of
reading.

I hope this comes as good news for many of you, and you will make use of it,
you will find it well worth your while.

No, I do not have a stake in the proceeds of the sale ;-))

Bye for now
