Hello Everyone!
Is there anybody out there who has read the book titled: "Letters of a
German American Farmer: Jurnjakob Swehn Travels to America" ?
This is the English version of a book focussing on a "...German
immigrant, on his way to a better life through ambition and hard work" -
based on hundrets of letters written in the early 20th century.
I am curious if this English version of the book really gives a good
understanding about that special "Mecklenburg" character and his "Low
German talks and feelings"
Any comments available on this ?
Best Regards
...und einen frhlichen Advent!

We have the German version and, yes, it gives a good understanding.
I have heard some good comments, via one of these lists. Have not read it myself. Is the book available in German?
Froehlichen Advent gleichfalls,
Ines
Ich habe das Buch "Letters of a German- American Farmer" gelesen.
I have read the book and enjoyed it. I felt I was getting a lot of insight
into the experiences and attitudes my own ancestors from Pommern und
Preussen may have had.
Whether or not it is a true revelation of "Mecklenburger" character I will
never know - or I will have to take the word of a bilingual Mecklenburger
who has read the book.
We are all putting up Christmas decorations here now.
