I am trying to learn to read the script in the St. Andreas church book
from the 1640s. It is in LDS film 0909936. If anyone has a page-- or
even an entry -- of this early script (from 1640-1646) I would like to
compare it to what I am "seeing" as I look at the page.
I am OK on the first names of the baptized... but I am having a great
deal of trouble with the hard part: the last names. It looks almost as
if there are none. it looks as if possibly the parents first names are
given, and then the name of the town in which they live.
My Darrenkamps were in this area, but later. I have done a good bit of
research in the later (late-1700 and mid-1800 records) records. So I am
familiar with the names and the names of the towns. Rusty, but familiar.
I have been away from reading these church book records for awhile. I just
need some practice to get back in gear.
