I have a thought for those looking to learn the German language. Many High Schools teach German and will allow you to sign out one of their course books over the summer when they are not in use by their students. The books are designed very simply and are easy to follow. Some course books also have tapes that accompany them. There are a few jr high and elementary schools that also have books and courses for their students to learn languages. Sometimes you can locate one that is teaching German.
