I am having some difficulty translating some latin text from a church
record from the Rheinland, written in 1713. I have had good luck with
responses from people on this list, and I am hoping to find some more luck
with this.
The text is as follows:
1713, 28 Aug:
I virtuosa virgo Catharina WINCKIN ambo hujus (pramifsis pramittendis) in
Ecclesia nostra (quatice) copulati sunt Hergenfeld adolesean Joes Theodorus
JACKEL ex hergenfeld Virgo Odilia BECKER hujus.
I could only translate part of the text as follows:
1713, 28 August:
Skilled virgin Catharina WINCKIN both of this local xx xx xx in church our
xx were married in Hergenfeld to the young man Joes Theodorus JACKEL of
Hergenfeld the virgin Odilia BECKER of this local.
I have only found a couple of latin references to the words "Pramifsis
pramittendis", but the words were not translated into English. Also, the
word "quantice" was difficult to read, and may be misspelled - I could not
find a latin word for it.
I am also confused by this marriage record. There is a separate marriage
index for this marriage record. The index stated that Joes Theodorus
JACKEL married the woman named Odilia BECKER. I don't know how the virgin,
Catharina WINK, described in the beginning, relates to this marriage
certificate. Is she a friend, or relative of the woman Catharina WINK?
Can anyone shed some light as to what the literal translation of this text
says?
