RE: Frederich GUSTAV HALBE/HALB, wife, Berta Emilie PYK/PIECK
I have been looking for Gustav Halbe/Halb for years and all I have is he is from Konigsberg, on the ship's list in 1868.
I have thoroughly searched vital records, naturalization records, death certificate, church records (none), homestead records, census, etc. They were Ev Lutherans.
For his wife, Berta PYK, I have found her birth record and her mother's birth record on a Mormon film for Sudargen/Sudargas, Russia. Today this is in Lithuania. There is just this one film for this town. The film is an index.
Sudargen is very close to the border of East Prussia (not too far from Tilsit area where Lasdehnen, Pillkalen, is located) I do not know if the Halbes moved to Lasdehnen before emigrating or maybe BERTA was just visiting there before leaving to get on the ship. Marriage probably about 1866. Berta gave this town on the ship's list when she emigrated in 1871....Gustav emigrated 1868.
Does anyone know if there are church records for LASDEHNEN, EAST PRUSSIA?
WHAT IS YOUR OPINION IF I SHOULD CONTACT THE LITHUANIAN ARCHIVES ABOUT RECORDS THERE. I ONLY HAVE NAMES AND BIRTH RECORDS FROM THE MORMON FILM.
All suggestions appreciated. Were church records saved for Lasdehnen during WWII and where might I look?
