There are two other books on this general topic that are also good.
Dr. Kamphoefner wrote a longer book on German emigration to the midwest
called "The Westfalians: From Germany to Missouri". I believe it is an expansion
of his dissertation.
There is also a German book by Anne Aengenvoort on German emigration to Ohio
called "Migration - Siedlungsbildung - Akkulturation: Die Auswanderung
Nordwestdeutscher nach Ohio, 1830 - 1914". (I would note it's primarily migration to
northwest Ohio)
