Altenlünne / (Land)Kreis Lingen (like county) is located on the boarder to Netherland, North-West in Germany, called now Landkreis Emsland (Land on the Ems river).
I have an emigration book of the former Kreis Lingen, what is the name of your g-g-grandmother ?
Werner
My gggrandmother was Theresa Kunk. Actually, in her marriage record in
Cincinnati she is listed at M. Theresa Kunk, which I would guess was
probably Maria Theresa Kunk. On her death certificate, her parents are
listed as "Bernard Kunck & Anna Lage, Germany". I believe her parents may
have actually been Johann Bernhard Kunk Anna Adelheid Hensen of Bramsel.
They were married on 4 February 1812 at St. Vitus Church, Altenlunne. This
was a lead given to me by another Kunk researcher who said that these were
the only records he had been able to find that were close to be a fit. I no
information on the birth and death dates/places of Johann Bernhard Kunk or
Anna Adelheid Hensen. It is thought that along with Theresa, 3 of her
brothers also emigrated to Cincinnati in 1845/46. M. Theresa Kunk married
Johan Wilhelm Guentmann (also spelled Guntman) on 27 January 1848, Old St.
Mary's Church, in Cincinnati. Wihelm was born in 24 February 1820 in
Emsdetten. He was the son of Johan Wilhelm Guentmann and Anna Maria
Kloppenborg, also of Emsdetten.
Other Kunk names that I'm trying to tie together are: Johan Kunk and Gesine
Hilvers, married 21 April, 1711; Johan Bernhard Kunk and Anna Maria
Wenneker, married 25 January 1756; Johann Gerhard Kunk & Gesine Elisabeth
Schmees, married 12 August 1788, all probably in Altenlunne, Kreis Lingen,
Neidersachsen.
