KULOW / GANSCHOW Klatzow

I found out a little more information on my KULOW / GANSCHOW line. I would like to see if anyone connects to any of them or can help me out finding more information.

Carl Friedrich Joachim b.3 Sept. 1839
married 18 Oct. 1864 Armenhaus of Treptow
Caroline Ernestine Elizabeth GANSCHOW

The parents of Carl Friedrich Joachim KULOW is:
Carl Andreas KULOW born 1800 (Day laborer) (Farmhand in Klein Teetzleben) died 26 Nov. 1874
married 10 Sept. 1836
Maria Dorothea born 4 Feb. 1810 or 1813 died 4 Mar. 1871 St. George. (maiden name unknown but previously married to a LANKOW from Reinberg)

Previous wife of Carl Andreas KULOW was Maria HAKER. A daughter Carolina Friederika Wilhelmine was born 10 Aug. 1830. Carl Andreas KULOW & Maria Dorothea had two daughters born besides my ancestor Carl Friedrich Joachim KULOW:
Carolina Friederika born 11 Jan. 1836 died 20 Jan. 1836 & Caroline Marie Christine born 26 Feb, 1837.

I know only the fathers name of Caroline Ernestine Elizabeth GANSCHOW that married Carl Friedrich Joachim KULOW. Her father was Johann Gabriel GANSCHOW & was married in St. George but I don't know to whom. Caroline Ernestine Elizabeth GANSCHOW had one sister & three brothers:
Carl Christian Albert born 29 Aug. 1838 Treptow, Caroline Sophie Wilhemine born 14 Oct. 1840, Carl Heinrich Julius born 2 Mar. 1843 & Carl Wilhelm born 29 Nov. 1844.

Thanks for any help. ...Gerry in Missouri

Hi Gerry,

the area of your Family belonged to Westpommerania (Vorpommern), in the 19th
cent. a part of Prussia. The todays name of Treptow is Altentreptow. This is
the list of Mecklenburg, not of Pomerania (they have a own list!)

Dear Pam,

Is that a different Treptow than the one Gerry is talking about?

No, it isn't. It means the same town Treptow (=Altentreptow). The old
town-gates of some towns at southeast of MEC were named after other cities
in this area. So i.e. in Neubrandenburg we have the "Treptow gate" = GER:
Treptower Tor = the former away to (Alten-) Treptow, the "Friedland Gate" =
Friedlaender Tor = the away to Friedland, the "Stargard Gate" = Stargarder
Tor = the away to (Burg) Stargard.

Friedland today has 2 old brick gates from the late middleages: the
"Anklamer Tor" (the away to Anklam at West Pommerania) and the
"Neubrandenburger Tor" (the away to Neubrandenburg). I guess at old times
they named a place (or building ?) on the street from Friedland to (Alten-)
Treptow also the "Treptower Tor", but it wasn't a building from early times.
It looks like they had find your ancestor nearly that place in Friedland.
