Greetings from Wisconsin!
I hope you may have some information about my Grossherzogtum Oldenburg ancestors. I am the great grandson of:
KOOPMANN, Carsten (occasionally mis-spelled Karsten), meister rademacher in Zetel, Niedersachsen, luth.
Born: 29 November 1811
Died: 28 June 1875
Married:
BORHOM [BORHOW?*] (Koopmann), Gherardine Antonia, luth.
Born: 20 October 1814
Died: 7 October 1876
Son:
KOOPMANN, Johann Heinrich Karl, decorated soldier in Franco-Prussian war, member Oldenburger Kriegerbund, worker (probably a rademacher) in Bockhorn, Niedersachsen, luth.
Born 29 May 1848 in Zetel
Died 30 October 1917, Ostenburg
Married: 16 July 1876, in Goedens
HARMS (Koopmann), Anna Augusta, luth.
Born: 14 April 1852, in Goedens
Died: 25 February 1927, in Sibley, Iowa, USA
Johann Heinrich Koopmann married, had children (all baptized in Bockhorn), and emmigrated to the United States in 1885 and took U.S. citizenship. Later, he divorced and returned to Germany, where he remarried. He was buried in Bockhorn.
*The spelling of the name Borhom/Borhow is inconsistent in some records and illegible in the others.
Thank you very much for any help you can give me regarding:
Carsten's parents, siblings, usw.
Gherardine's parents, siblings, usw.
Johann Heinrich's siblings, occupation, remarriage, usw
Anna's parents, siblings, usw
One last item: Who is HINRICH KOOPMANN? His name and dates were on a Bockhorn tombstone: Born 10 October 1782. Died 3 September 1868.
Sincerely,
John Koopman
