Konfirmationen und Communikanten

Hi,
I thought you might like to know that the Church of England (which is
Protestant) also has communion, this is where the child, once old enough to
understand, pledges to follow the teachings of Christ and is called
'confirmation'. Each month on the 4th Sunday there is usually a 'Holy
Communion' Service which is a quiet devotional service in traditional
language. At the baptism / christening, the godparents make the vows on
behalf of the baby and in essence they undertake to oversee that the child
stays on the straight and narrow path. Even in the 20th century some vicars
would not marry a couple in church if they had not been 'confirmed' as a
child. The Lutherian Church was rather strict so I assume they too
undertook confirmation ceremonies of the child.
