I am researching the family of my Great Grandmother, Amanda Koehne Brendemuehl. Amanda Koehne was born in Hannover 12 May 1853. About 1870 she married August Brendemuehl a seaman. She migrated with August and their infant son, Helmuth, to the US aboard the Steamship Franklin ( Stettin-Oslo-New York ) arriving in New York 19 June 1872. They immediately moved to Little Suamico, Wisconsin ( a small village near Green Bay ) where they developed a dairy farm. Three other members of the Koehne family migrated to the Little Suamico area and are thought to be siblings of Amanda or close relatives. They are: Fredrick ( Fritz ) Koehne born 1847 migrated 1868; Wilhelm Koehne born 1856 migrated 1871 and Heinrich ( Henry ) Koehne born 1833 migrated sometime in the 1850's. According to the Koehne Family descendents ( still living in the Little Suamico area ) the family came from Hannover, probably County Norden, probably from near Marienfeld. I have researched the records available at the Salt Lake LDS library but could not find Amanda. Is anyone researching the Koehne Family or can anyone offer a suggestion?
Thank You C F " Mac" Buetow
Hi Mac:
I am no help for the line you are researching, but I have a question about your name Buetow/Btow (with the umlaut).
There is a Kreis (County) and city by that name in eastern Pommern. Any connection?
