KNUPPEL from Odelebfin, Hannover?

Adelebsen seems like a very likely match. The town would have been close enough to her husband and seems like it could easily be a spelling or pronunciation error.

Thank you so much Joan! I would be lost without that suggestion.

I guess the next question would be what records exist for the area around the time of her birth in 1814? And are they easily accessable through the Family History Library or some other organization? I've checked the FHL catalog for a few different areas and haven't seen anything from around 1814.

Also, is Adelebsen still in Hannover? I've seen it listed in Braunschweig in at least one gazetteer.

Thanks everyone for your thoughts! They are of tremenous value!

Dear Christine Cunningham,

your ancestor Heinrich Christian Ludwig Schrder stands within his parents
family as family number =11576= in the book

"Rolf Nowaks Ortssippenbuch Uslar" (see my website
Ortssippenbuch Uslar ).

Invalide can sell the book to you. You find it in the library of the the
Genealogical Society of Utah, see the site
http://www.familysearch.org/Eng/Library/fhlcatalog/supermainframeset.asp?display=authordetails&authorno=127648&name=Kunze%2C%2BKlaus%2BE.&columns=*,0,0 .

In the book you will find the family

=11576= Schrder, Heinrich Ludwig, Holzhauer, *17.8.1775 in U.-Esch., ?
16.5.1858 ebd. [Elt.=11489]

18.5.1806 in U.-Eschershausen,: Ca ( Schrder), Engel Dorothea,
*28.10.1782 in Soh., ? 8.10.1853 in U.-Esch., 11.10.1853 ebd. [Elt.=2050]

1. Heinrich [?11582]

2. Christian [?11583]

3. Heinrich Christian Ludwig, *10.3.1809 in U.-Esch.

4. Johanne [?6025]

5. Maria [?11511]

and also the further generations: parents [Elt(ern)] of number =11576= are
family number =11489= an so on.

Invalide agree with Joan Buhler, that the origin-place of Knppel seems to
be Adelebsen. Invalide don't have the church-books here unfortunalety, so
Invalide can not help there.

Hello again,

If you go to the LDS site:

http://www.familysearch.org/Eng/Search/frameset_search.asp

Go to Family History Catalog and go to Place

You will find records from Adelebsen.

The church records there are a little late (1856-1870)
However, there are civil registration records from 1808 - 1890.

If you wander around with Google for Adelebsen and Knüppel, you will
find many sites with that name. I did not find your Sophie though, but I
would guess you could find something from the LDS civil records. You should
also check on Barterode as well as Lödingsen which are nearby towns.

Here's the page for the church in Adelebsen:
www.ev-kirche-adelebsen.de They do have an email address.

There are two phone listings for Knüppel in Adelebsen:

Knüppel Karl-Heinz Bramburger Str. 2 37139 Adelebsen
05506 84 36

Knüppel Marita Am Ort 2 37139 Adelebsen
05506 78 24

It looks like you are on your way!

Adelebsen seems like a very likely match. The town would have been close

I forgot to tell you that Adelebsen is in what was Hannover. Braunschweig
was a part of Hannover.

Hello again,
