Klug - SS Republic arriving 24 Apr 1874

I have not been following this discussin re the SS Republic but I
seem to call there was some discussion whether it was a direct or
indirect voyage. I was just looking at some of my records and noted
that on the Hamburg Emigration Index Cards there was a place where
it could the voyage was direct otr indirect. Can anyone confirm?

That's interesting because I have seen "Bremerhaven" listed as the
port of departure before and I thought that simply meant "Bremen".
It's good to find out.

I think the voyage was indirect because the arrival of the Republic (24 Apr 1874) lists that it went from Liverpool, to Ireland to NYC. It was confusing to me because a few years ago I thought that I saw it listed on CastleGarden.org that it had originated in Hamburg, but now when I look at the listing on Ancestry.com it does not state that it originated in Hamburg.

Hi Max,

I am not sure what cards you are speaking about.

Hamburg kept separate lists for those going to their destination directly,
from those who were going to another port before travelling on.
Therefore there are "Direct Lists" and "Indirect Lists."
