Hello
My name is David Heydorn, I understand that my Great Grandfather came from a village near Hannover called Klein Heidorn his name was also Heidorn before it got changed to Heydorn I am told.
I also have heard that there are some records(very old) in a Church near to or in klein heidorn.
Any information would be appreciated
your sincerely
David Heydorn

Have you tried finding other researchers who may be researching the same
surname in Germany?
Try http://foko.genealogy.net if you don't know German, just put the
surname in the first field and click on the button on the bottom. If you
find any that you would like to know the address of the person, click on the
box on the right. Keep going to the next page by the arrow at the bottom of
the page (right side). If you are finished, click on the gray button on the
bottom right. The next screen, input your email address in the large input
box and click on the button. Within about 15 minutes (depending on how busy
the server is), an email will arrive with the snail mail and maybe an email
address for each unique person .. and a list of the surnames, timeframes
they are researching.
If you are not sure the town exists, send an email to geo@genealogy.net.
The subject must ONLY contain "_GEO_" (without quotation marks) and put the
name of the town(s) in a column in the message. Don't add any signature,
etc. as a computer just compares the town names and returns an email. If
you are not sure of the spelling, just put in the first few characters and
it will send you back all the towns that match. In fact I did it quick
and got this back:
Prefix: klein heidorn
Klein Heidorn
Part of: Wunstorf
GKZ : 03 2 53 020
County : | | +---- Hannover {H}
RegBez : | +------- Hannover
Land : +--------- Niedersachsen
ZIP : 31515
Locat : (Wunstorf) 52d26m N 9d26m E
Maps : TK25 3522 Wunstorf
TK50 L3522 Garbsen
Euro Kc34
So it appears the village is part of a larger town called Wunstorf. If you
do not find any parish records in Klein Hidorn, then try Wunstorf.
Good luck
