Good day,
I have a very general question that I hope my "cousins" in Germany can help me with. I have a GGGrandfather whose americanized name was Lewis (Louis) Kent. I only know from elder relatives that Kent was not the correct surname (they gave me vague answers when I asked what is was, something like "Gintz", they would say. I know that Louis was from Germany, a biography in a Wisconsin book states this. However, I do not know from where. I was hoping for some general information or even guesses as to what the surname could really have been. I have thought of Kindt, Kind, Gintz, Gentz and Kints, but I have had no luck finding anything about a Louis with these names.
My question is, does anyone on the List have any suggestions for what the name Kent might actually be, considering pronunciation, etc.
Louis was teamster when he came to the US, perhaps this might be some kind of clue also.
Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.
Kindest regards and appreciation,
