JW (Julius Wilhem) Burgdorf

My g-grandfather,s name was indeed Julius, middle name Wilhelm. At
least that is how it appears on some of his New Orleans records but
sometimes as JW. I assume he was Evangelical since I have a
certificate issued when he and his wife Maria Theresa Kirschein had
their son Wilhelm baptised, This event was in the First German
Protestant Church of New Orleans. Maria Kirschein was baptised in the
Dom in Berlin Brandenberg on March 3 1840. For this reason I had the
researcher check out St. Andreas

I am pursuing this sort of like grasping at straws. Gale, I will
check out the information you gave me. I am awaiting a call from the
local Family History Center where I have film on order. Some time ago
I made a photocopy of a record that appears to have the name JW
Burgdorf on it and because of my stupidity I failed to note the
source. I think it was the Hildesheim census covering the years
1809-1864.

  Hi Max:
I was just looking at (familysearch.org) and found that the FHL has
this: [1]Kirchenbuchduplikat, 1803-1874Evangelische Kirche Sankt
Andreae Hildesheim and
[2]Kirchenbuchduplikat, 1857-1874Evangelische Kirche Sankt Andreae
Hildesheim
Also, there appears to be another 30 or so different church's in the
area. What makes you think that St. Andreas is the correct one? Is
it
because the researcher found Burgdorf's at St. Andreas?
Also it appears that the FHL has information in about 17 different
categories for Hildesheim.
As I recall your GGF's name was Julius? That is of a Latin
derivative
and would indicate to me that he may have been Katholische. St.
Andreas is Evangelische.
There is certainly a lot of information for the area.
Have fun,
Gale
