I just wanted to let you all know of something I did recently..... I have
researched my maiden name back to the 1660s....and many lived in one central
area in Bavaria. So, on a whim, I was in Facebook, and I put in the city name
and my maiden name and found one person who lived there and had my maiden name
as his last name! I wrote to him briefly explaining why I was writing. He
answered saying he was interested and could I send more info. I sent him a
tree...without any personal data, just in case....and now am waiting to hear
back from him. That was just yesterday so need to wait a bit more
before getting too anxious! Anyway, just thought I would pass the idea along.

I did a similar thing. I searched for my maiden name and my mother's maiden
name in Facebook. I found one person with each name and corresponded with
them, and met one of them on my recent trip to Germany. We have not yet made
definitive connections, but know that somewhere back in time we are related.
