To clarify, Julius Wilhelm Burgdorf was sometimes recorded as J. W. When I look at German Records I look for J. W., Julius, Julius Wilhem and just plain Wilhelm. On the aforementioned baptismal certificate and on his death certificate he was Julius Wilhelm. As to his years (33) in Germany I do not know how he identified himself. But my search has not turned up any name or combination of names od people born in the time frame of 1822-1828.
In the US he fathered 2 sons, Wilhelm born 1869 and Carl born 1864, and a daughter Dorothe born 1867. Wilhelm was baptized 19 March 1870 and it is my guess the child died very young.
As to the age of a person it is necessary to know the exact date of birth and death to determine exactly. And I do not know his birth date, only the date of his death, his age when he emigrated and the age stated on the death certificate, 6 June 1878.
