Julius wilhelm burgdorf

I have been searching for my ggrandfather Julius for over seven years
without success. Hopefully I will get lucky this time and someone out
there will have a clue. I especially ask listers who live or who are
familiar with the area around Hildesheim and Baddeckenstedt for their
help.

On a son's baptismal certficate issued by the First German
Protestant Church of New Orleans, Julius listed his place of birth as
Hildesheim in Hanover. In the Hamburg Emigration Index he gave
Baddeckenstadt as his last place of residence. He emigrated in 1859
to New Orleans, La. at the age of 31. He died there in 1878 at the
age of 51 years. I calculate his birth year as being 1827 but have no
confirming evidence. I do have a death certificate confirming the
death date and have located his burial location in New Orleans. He
and his wife (Maria Kirchbein) had 3 sons, Max Charles Eugene (my
grandfather), Carl and Wilhelm., and one daughter Dorothea. Maria
Kirshbein was born in Berlin and she was about 10-12 years younger
than Julius. She died one year after her husband.

I assume he was Evangelical since he baptised one of his children in
a Protestant church. A professional researcher checked the Evangelical
churches in Hildesheim but found no Julius Burgdorfs. Could he have
been born to a Catholic family and later changed his church
affiliation? I have not researched the family books of the Catholic
churches that were in Hildeseim at that time.

If anyone, ANYONE, has a lead for me to pursue let me know. I
welcome any suggestion, even the names of researchers with a depth of
information for that area. I am 85 years old and am not getting any
younger. I would love to fill in the spaces on my paternal tree.

  Thanks a million,

  Max
