Greetings
As many of you know I have been searching for Julius Wilhelm Burgdorf for years without success. I am reviewing what data I have collected and now I am trying to broaden my search, taking a new look at what I already have.
Today I looked at the Kleuber Index file compiled on FHL film N0. 1961979. This is the Auswanderung list for the years 1850-1871 of the imigrants through the port of Hamburg. I found a J. W. Burgdorf who I almost certainly believe is Julius Wilhelm. The Kleuber Index information is identical to what I have found on other records such as passenger list, New Orleans Custom House file, death certificate.
The following information is on the card:
Name: J. W. Burgdorf
Place of Origin: Beddeckenstedt Hanover
Occupation: Commis ( I have told this is 'clerk')
Age 33
Year: 1859
Page 590
Illegible word: 24
My new interest is what does the page number refer to and the following number 24 refer to. Possibly book? Can anyone direct me to the sources? Is there more information available other than what is on the card?
Any leads will be greatly appreciated,
Max
