Johannes Snitger in Unna

Dea list members,

I am looking for a baptism of Johannes Snitger (also spelled Snitquer or Schnitker), born around 1690 to 1700 in 'Onna in the land of Brandenburg' (marriage record 1718 in Rotterdam, Netherlands, in a Lutheran church).

I asked this question on the Brandenburg list before, assuming that Onna could be the village Oehna, but nothing was found there. Since then I learned that Unna in Westfalen became under the control of Brandenburg in 1666, so it is very possible that Onna really means Unna.

My question is: how to look at church records from Unna to find a family Snitger? Are they online somewhere? If not, where are the records ket? Does somebody already know of this family in their own genealogy?

Any help is welcome.

I rode to work daily with a lady researching SCHNITGER from the province of
Hannover for many years. I suspect that many of her family names are now on
www.familysearch.org. Maybe you will find a connection. The filmed records
for Unna can be found on the Family History Library Catalog, also at this
same site. However, they are not online and the films would need to be
ordered to a family history center.
