Thank you Wolfgang & Bobbi. Since we had family still in Ihlienworth in the 1940's, does anyone know if there might be any census records available from the 1940's & 1950's?

The census information for the U.S. will not be released until 75 years
have passed according to privacy restrictions, so that should be after
2015 for the 1940 census and after 2025 for the 1950 census.

A lot of censuses take place in the past. Take a look at
It's unfortunately only in German.
I have never seen documents or transcriptions in internet or books. I guess
the German administration keep them hidden. But maybe another researcher has
better information as I have.

I'm not certain if same locality but I have noticed ship records at Ellisisland.org that give departure place as Cuxhaven.
Maybe you could find something searching departure from Cuxhaven.
