Johann Heinrich SCHROEDER family

Hello all,

Listers have helped me with this family before when I've been stuck, and I'm depending on you for further advice. The family as previously presented is:
Johann "John" Heinrich SCHROEDER, b. 1813, Hannover
Catherine, b. 1832, Hannover
Friederike, b. 1848, Hannover
Engel, b. 1851, Hannover
Frederick, b. 1856, Hannover
Harman/Herman, b. 1857, Hannover
Charles/Carl Henry, b. 1858, Hannover (my g grandfather)
John Henry, b. 1860, Hannover
Anna Marie, b. 1864, Hannover
William F., b. 1870, Indiana
Louisa M., b. 1872, Indiana
According to my g grandmother's notes, my g grandfather "came to the United States after the war was over in the year 1866, with his father John Schroeder". I first found the family in the Jackson County, Indiana 1870 census, and eventaully some of them in Ripley County, Indiana. I believe I also found them on the passenger list of the ship Ocean which sailed from Bremen and arrived in Baltimore 08 Nov 1865, destination Cincinnati.

My branch of the family moved from Indiana to Bowie County, Texas in 1907. All of my research in Indiana has been long distance, but I still hope to visit there in a few months.

Now for new developments--and more questions. After posting a query on the Ripley County message board, I heard from a descendant of another daughter, Katherine Maria, b. 1845, who preceded the family to Cincinnati, and married Frederick Kruse there in 1864. He told me John's family stayed in Cincinnati for an unknown time before going on to Indiana, and that his mother's notes indicated her Schroeder family came from Osnabruck in Hannover.

While trying to track various family members, I came across an Ancestral File on the LDS website that gives Johann's wife Catherine's surname as HIDEBRINK. I contacted the person who posted the information, and asked if she would share the source of the Hidebrink name, but after the initial contact got nothing further. After looking at various spellings of the surname--and finding that it appears to be uncommon, I hoped it may help in locating their home in Hannover. Unfortunately, to this point I've had no luck in confirming Catherine's surname.

You have commiserated with me about researching a family with a name as common as Schroeder, and I hope you Hannover experts can now help me move forward again. Any suggestions will be appreciated.

Sandra
