Thank you for a response on "my" Johann Heinrich Meyer and his son who was
Heinrich Herman Meyer. They came to America about 1854, lived in Chicago
for three years, then went to Minnesota. Here they settled with about ten
other German Lutheran families. These families came from various parts of
Germany. It seems they settled into this small community because of a
common religion and language. All my ancestors have roots in this community
and church -- Friedens Ev. Lutheran Congregation, and almost all of them are
buried in this little church cemetery. In 1875 they obtained a pastor,
Jürgens Christian Albers who was a graduate of the Mission Society' Seminary
in Hermannsberg. He brought his future wife the next year (1876) who was
Dorothea Heine. These two people also came into my ancestry as a daughter,
Martha Alpers, married Fred Meyer.
