Johann Ahlers and Johanne Holle

Heiko, I feel very lucky too! I've been wondering for years about my mother's side of the family. (She was an Ahlers.) I knew that my great great great grandfather Louis Ahlers emigrated from Oldenburg (according to US census data in 1880 & 1900.) Last week I found his marriage certificate and learned the names of his parents, Johan Ahlers and Johanne Hollen. That information matched a family tree posted on Ancestry.com showing Louis's first name was originally Ludwig. Johann Hinrich Ahlers and family emigrated to New York on the shop "Stephani" in 1852. Although the shop manifest states their destination was Cincinnati, they are listed in Manhattan on the 1855 census and Johann's occupation is "polisher." They subsequently moved to Egg Harbor City, New Jersey where a community for German emigrants had recently been founded. tax records from 1862 show "J.H. Ahlers" owned a 20 acre farm and residence in Egg Harbor City. Johanne Ahlers died on April 15, 1863 and was buried in Egg Harbor City cemetery. Johan and his son Ludwig appear on the 1875 census as John H. Ahlers, cigar maker, and Louis Ahlers, salesman, in Brooklyn New York. Also listed in the household is Emelie Meyer 34 year old, cousin born in Germany, and her daughter Carry Meyer, 10 years old born in New York. John H. Ahlers died on January 30, 1876 in Brooklyn, New York. Ludwig "Louis" Ahlers married Marie Louise Boulanger in Union Hill New Jersey on 12 Jun 1879. He was a silk salesman residing in Brooklyn, according to the marriage certificate, and she was the daughter of French immigrants from Cassel who owned a florist shop and nursery in Union Hill. They two sons, Louis Herman Ahlers (1880-1951) and Hilbert b.1884 in Union Hill. Ludwig "Louis" Ahlers died in 1903 and his estate was probated in New Jersey. Louis Herman Ahlers married Marguerite Couche in Union Hill, NJ on 24 Dec 1904. He was employed as a salesman and she was the daughter of French immigrants from Doubs. They had three children, Louis (1906-1984) (my grandfather) and Hilbert (1907-1969) and Hazel (1919-2007). The family moved to Brooklyn, NY in 1915. Louis Ahlers (1906-1984) married Sebastia Rosiello (1909-1982) in Brooklyn in 19344. He was a milkman and she was the daughter of an Italian immigrant father and ethnic Greek from Egypt mother. They were neighbors as teenagers on 18th Street in Brooklyn. They had three children Ronald (b. 1937), Joan (1940-2009) (my mother) and Steven (1944-2009) Please add any pertinent information about this family to the Oldenburg emigrants' database. Would you tell me the names of Johann Hinrich Alhers' mother and Johanne Holle's mother? Thank you!!
best regards,Pam
