Joegsden

Does anyone have an idea where Joegsden is? I think East Prussia it is north
of Tilsit but cant find it in kartenmeister. It appears three families by the
name RASTUTIS lived there. any other ideas or suggestions? Thank you

Joegsden was a village in the Memel-district.

Prior to 1919 is was part of Eastern Prussia for 300 years, from 1923-1939 it was in the Lithunian Memel-district (County Memel) and from 1939 to 1945 it was again part of East-Prussia.

Goldbeck, Topography of Eastern Prussia (1785) lists it as follows:

Joegsden (o-Umlaut) Royal<Prussian> village on the border to Poland (which turned into be LIthunia). 8 fireplaces < about 50/60 inhabitants. Ancient county <Landraethlicher Kreis> Insterburg, Judicial circuit: Memel. "Amt" <the royal manor, it belonged to> Baublen, <protestant> Church Coadiuthen .

Prior to 1939 it was amalgamated into the village Thomuscheiten (in the county Pogehnen (existed 1923-1939) when it was again incorporated into the county TIlsit and Heydekrug)

Tomuscheiten(1939 County Tilsit) present Lithunian name Tamo~sai~ciai (The "s" and the "c" have two "ears" on the top)
Jögsden present Lithunian name Geg~zdai (again with "ears" over the z)

Hallo!

Der Ort "Jgsden" (Joegsden) gehrt zum Kirchspiel >Nattkischken< (gegr. 1895).
Gerettete Kirchenbcher gibt es leider in den Archiven Berlin und Leipzig keine.
Bleiben nur die Mormonen.
