JEKEL from Prussia

Thanks for the comments on the JEKEL surname. I would like to add two other
things for listers. The first is a question. I do know that this JEKEL
family left Prussia from the Port of Antwerp, Belgium in 1847. Can anyone
post an opinion as to whether this departure location might indicate what
part of Prussia the family might have come from? In other words, was the
Antwerp port used more by people from one area of Prussia than others? It
would seem to make sense that people would have tried to travel the shortest
distance to find a sailing point out of the country...also, I've done some
checking and it seems that most of the records from Antwerp were destroyed
years ago. Might there be any other way for me to back track this family,
knowing that they departed Prussia probably in September or October of 1847?
I would like to find some sort of Emigration document that the family had to
complete prior to leaving the country, and this might get me back to the
village of origin.

The second thing is a link to my JEKEL genealogy page.

Thanks again.

You cannot conclude anything from the port of departure.
