I am wondering if there could still be JAGAU families living in the area of Hildesheim? This is the Americanized spelling of my grandmother's maiden name. She was born to AUGUST JAGAU in 1875.
I was reading some emails about connecting with areas of the country with the idea that people in Germany may not have moved far from the home place?
Also is there someone out there that will transcribe a short letter from English to German to write to families living in same area?
Thank you for your help. This has been a wonderful site for genealogy in Germany. DB
Hallo Darlen,
there is a family named JAGAU in two local parts of Garbsen (near Hannover).
I know the family. The daughter is now a teacher, many years ago we are in
the same class at scool.
I don't know, perhaps it's "your" family.
If you want to try, they are in the phone book.
Best wishes,
Christina (GLATTE)
