Is there any source available to search records from Grabstede in Bockhorn?
According to a hand written letter from a great aunt, my great grandfather,
Friedrich Janssen born January 3, 1877 in Grabstede, along with his wife
Anna (Schweers) Janssen born July 4, 1882 in Grabstederfeld had 7 children,
4 girls, 3 boys, all baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran School in
Grabstede. My grandfather Gustav Johann Janssen who was one of the boys and
became a policeman. I have a photograph of him in Oldenburg in his uniform
dated 1924. Friedrich & Anna had a Dairy farm and small lumber business. She
writes that my great, great grandfather Berendt Anton Janssen was the
"center of the Village and had all the facilities. An Inn, Dance Hall,
Stage , Meeting Room and a lovely big Garden. She goes on to say that in
the unstable years after WWI the family businesses were lost. This is why
Friedrich Janssen at the age of 49 came to the states in 1926 and the rest
of the family in 1926, 1927 and 1928.
I have very good information on my Great Grandmothers tree but am lost when
it comes to Berendt Anton Janssen. This is my brick wall. A hand scrawled
tree from my aunt says his wife was Sofie Will but I do not know how
accurate this is. Can anyone help me?
