Info on Scharlach family

Hello.
I am researching my Scharlach family tree. I have accumulated parts of a family tree. My great-great-grandfather, Alexander Scharlach married Frederica Leopold in Germany. They had 2 known children, Louis and Emil Alexander (born 1850 in Hanover). Emil Alexander left Germany for England at age 19 to avoid jail.

Emil Alexander married Therese Heim in London, England in 1886 and had 7 children, all born in London. They were my maternal great-grandparents. The whole family emigrated to Philadelphia over a period of years and the oldest child, Sina, married Frederick Weitzenkorn (emigrated from Germany) in Philadelphia. Their only child was my mother, Rita.

That's all I know. I don't know what happened to Emil's brother, Louis, or if there were other children. I don't know who Alexander Scharlach's parents were. I think they stayed in Hanover.

Attached is the partial family tree. Maybe you know about Alexander and/or Louis Scharlach.

  Best regards,

Hello Diane,

There is a Louis Scharlach on the passenger lists at
www.castlegarden.org. He is listed as from Germany (although he left from
Liverpool) age 41 -- arrival Apr 1, 1889. You might run a search on that
site for just Scharlach and find the other Scharlachs that are listed.
Have you ever found the passenger list for the family?

Also, if you haven't done so, you should run a search on the LDS site
for Scharlach with no first name and check the box for correct spelling.
You will find just a few from Hannover. I usually try that and sometimes it
will list the correct person with a first name that you don't know about and
then the second name before the surname.

If you run a Google search for "Alexander Scharlach" you will find
quite a few listings. Maybe not yours though! It's mostly in German.

Good luck,
Barbara
