Hello, Jan
Many thanks for your kind response. By the way, the Orlowo I'm tracking is
shown as Orlowo/Lipno on my grandfather's death certificate as his place of
birth. Is that the Orlowo near Inowroclaw? (My geography is not very good,
and all the similar names really have me confused.)
I will follow up on your leads and let you know how things go.
Again, thanks
Barbara

Well, that is quite another matter. The Orlowo near Lipno (about 13 km
southeast of Lipno) belonged to Congress Poland from 1815 until the end of
WWI. The LDS have filmed the Evangelical church records of Lipno for the
period 1808-1865. I don't know if any records exist beyond 1865. For the
years 1859-1862 the film number is: FHL INTL Film 714861, and for the years
1863-1865 it is 714862.
You may find other researchers of this area at the SGGEE (Society of German
Genealogy for Eastern Europe) at: http://sggee.org
But I think you know that already? At any rate, they have a large database
of more than 200,000 individuals, accessible to members only.
Perhaps you will be able to find out more about the period after 1865 by
contacting the Head Office of State Archives in Warsaw (Naczelna Dyrekcja
Archiwow Panstwowych).
You can read about the Polish State Archives at these addresses:

Thank you, that would be very nice. Good luck with your research.
