If one believes he is is getting no answers, this mi ght be the reason

Uwe,

I learned that some people in the USA use capitalization of names only if

they want to express if/that the person is something negative???....You may
explaine to me please.

The only negative that I have seen associated with capitalization is related
to Internet etiqutte. If one were to type a phrase, an entire sentence or
an entire email in all captitals, it would be considered the same a
shouting.

I do not think that most genealogy list members would think that the use of
capitalization on a name gives a negative connotation. In fact on every
genealogy mailing list that I am subscribed to, noting the surname in
capitals is the norm.

Researching:
Mecklenburg: THIES, BRINCKMANN, SCHNELL, IVEN, DAHNCKE, SCHULZE
Brandenburg: THIES, ELS, GROTHE, HEIN

My 2 cents worth, I was a genealogy room hostess for 10 years, and some people with vision problems would type their question in CAPS. Which was ok, if we knew the reason.
